The Finnish company FORCIT is building an electronics assembly plant in Salo, Finland. The plant will strengthen the company’s production and security of supply of high-tech defense solutions. Construction work has started in spring 2026 and will be completed in early 2027. Production will be increased in stages, and the plant is intended to be fully operational by 2029.
FORCIT continues to invest in Finland by building a new electronics assembly plant in Meriniitty, Salo. The new plant will manufacture components for high-tech defense systems. The investment supports FORCIT’s growth in the defense industry and strengthens the company’s ability to meet growing demand in domestic and international markets.
The plant that is to be built in Meriniitty will focus on the assembly of high-tech components. The plant will not manufacture or handle explosives. The investment will be implemented in close cooperation with a network of partners and will strengthen FORCIT’s production capacity and security of supply in a changing operating environment.
Part of the growth strategy and an investment in Finland
The assembly plant to be built in Salo is part of FORCIT’s long-term growth strategy. Over the past three years, the company has invested approximately EUR 100 million in technology and capacity expansion. In the coming years, the total value of the investments will increase to over EUR 350 million. The Salo plant’s share of this is approximately EUR 10 million.
“Electronics and sensor technology play a key role in intelligent defence systems. By bringing production and development closer together, we are strengthening our competitiveness and our ability to innovate so that we can remain at the forefront of our industry in the future as well”, says Joakim Westerlund, CEO of FORCIT Group.
The assembly plant is estimated to employ a maximum of around 200 people when completed. The plant will also have indirect employment impacts in the region.
“Salo offers excellent conditions for the construction and growth of a new unit. Recruitment has already started, and we are gradually recruiting professionals for the plant, including electronics assembly, production and quality management,” says Alex Lagerstedt, Executive Vice President, who is responsible for FORCIT Defence’s business operations.
FORCIT Group has experienced strong growth over the past decade. The company currently employs over 800 professionals. Last year, FORCIT Group’s turnover was around EUR 500 million and its profit for the financial year was EUR 125 million.
